Flowing Towards Number 1
I have just settled in by the fireplace to delve into a new novel while outside I hear a steady drumming of rain and ice, the combination of which is a sure sign that we are mid-winter next to the Great Lakes.
I can’t help but spend a moment contemplating the passion for creativity by which I am surrounded on a daily basis. Professors who translate entire pieces of ancient writings into iambic pentameter, Nobel Prize winners who quantify the power of art within an apocalyptic cataclysm, continuous lawsuits filed against AI companies, the National Reading Initiative launched in the UK, and, back here in my own Midwest, students who proudly share their poetry combined with artwork as a way of conveying their innermost thoughts.
It is this passion that I am eager to explore as the submission period for our inaugural review welcomes your artistry, individuality, and vision to share with the world. Societal demands can have a tendency to unscrupulously diminish the significance of literature and the arts. Lest we forget the words of Henry James when he said “It is art that makes life, makes interest, makes importance…and I know of no substitute whatever for the force and beauty of its process.”
I know that I speak for our entire editorial team when I share an eager anticipation to review your submissions combined with the utmost respect for your profound and imaginative work .
All the best,
Hillary Danaher, Editor
