GRANT VECERA
Two days after I rolled it down my driveway,
a prickly geezer hoisted it into his flatbed
muttering something about dumb asses
too stupid to change a goddam spark plug.
Craggy old gearhead
gets a free lawn mower
and can’t even say thanks.
You’d think he’d be pleased
basking in that emerald illusion
that it all makes sense now
that you’ve made something from nothing,
like when you swiped that Zero bar
then gave it to your chum
out behind the dumpsters
because fuck candy.
