M. M. PORTER
If the world was a meal,
& let’s face it,
it is one
of those all-night dinners
where the party really gets going with a bang
of fondue fountains
& of course
there’s sparkling cider,
if the world was a meal,
then {fireflies}
would be a delicate sauce,
an aside,
but go without them
& the meat of the lake becomes dull.
&, Yes, we would consume it.
But, No, we wouldn’t
delight in the devouring,
we wouldn’t wish to continue.
